The One Stop Centre (OSC) project was started to support women and girls facing any kind of violence — physical, emotional, sexual, psychological, or economic. These centres bring together all essential services under one roof, including medical help, legal support, police assistance, and psychological counselling. OSCs are also connected to helplines like 181 for quick response and immediate help.
The project ensures that all women and girls, including those below 18 years of age, can access protection and care, regardless of their caste, class, religion, region, marital status, or sexual orientation. For younger girls, OSCs work closely with institutions under the Juvenile Justice Act (2000) and the POCSO Act (2012) to ensure proper care and support.
About the Kishori Girls Initiative
This project was part of our effort to address discrimination and inequality faced by women and adolescent girls in rural and weaker sections of society. The adolescent phase is a turning point in a girl’s life — a time when she learns, grows, and begins to understand her place in society. Through this initiative, we focused on helping girls develop awareness, confidence, and the ability to protect themselves from violence and injustice.
Our Aim
- To provide integrated support and assistance to women and girls affected by violence, both in private and public spaces.
- To ensure immediate and long-term access to services such as medical care, legal help, psychological counselling, and temporary shelter.
- To help women fight against all forms of violence and rebuild their lives with dignity and confidence.
The OSC served as a safe and supportive space where women could receive all forms of assistance in one place. From emergency rescue and medical aid to legal counselling and filing FIRs, every step was handled with care and confidentiality. OSCs were also equipped with videoconferencing facilities to help women connect directly with police or court officials, reducing delays and ensuring faster justice.
Through this project, we aimed to create a strong support system that helps women recover from trauma, regain confidence, and move forward toward a life free from violence and fear.
