MSACS TI Units – Target Group MSM
With the objective to work on the most vulnerable issue in society, SEDT started its work on the subject of AIDS prevention. At the same time, the first baseline survey revealed to us the need to work on reducing the STI rate, control on syphilis, testing for HIV & follow up on the people who are found HIV reactive. There was also a need to work on community mobilization & increase the living standard of the FSWs & MSMs. Presently we are working on 22 sites in Parbhani city, 4 in Jintur, 4 in Manvat, 5 in Selu, 5 in Purna, and 5 in Gangakhed for FSWs. While working on the MSMs, we are focusing on the 10 sites in Parbhani city, 3 in Jintur, 3 in Manvat, 2 in Selu, 3 in Purna, and 12 in Gangakhed. This initiative is divided into three separate projects.

About HIV Targeted Intervention
SEDT has been working on the FSW & MSM population in the Parbhani district since 2005. Initially, we worked on the reduction of sexually transmitted infections among the FSW & MSM. ● Reduce new infection by 50%
● Comprehensive care support & treatment.
● Peer-led approach

Our Approach
The project is based on the above-mentioned objectives & to achieve the same. We provide the services as under:

Our Intervention
SEDT is determined to manage and educate people in Kerwadi about HIV/AIDS to help them lead a better life. If such interventions had been held earlier, the lives of people living here would be better and comfortable. To do this we hold various meetups with the people and experts in the field.

● Site-level meetings: We conduct site-level meetings to spread awareness of sexually transmitted infections & HIV / AIDS among the HRGs.
● Advocacy meetings:
For achieving the targets of this project & to network in a good fashion, we conduct advocacy meetings. We establish the linkages with the Govt. officers, local leaders, community leaders, political leaders, doctors, advocates, auto drivers, etc., who help us in the smooth running of this program.
● Crisis meetings: Sex workers are the most vulnerable group in society, and they are not aware of their rights & duties & the local laws. To overcome this issue, we have made crisis committees. We conduct training of the committee members & also make them aware of the various laws which are useful for them.
● PLHIV support group meetings: We conduct the PLHIV support group meetings for the HIV reactive people to provide them with nutrition to them through the meetings.
● Implementation of the Bal: Sangopan Yojana for the children of the sex workers. We work for the education of the children of sex workers. We provide them with a hostel facility or foster care schemes. Through the scheme, we counsel them on the education of their children. At present, we work with about 100 children who are children of sex workers, and among them, 36 are children of PLHIV sex workers.
● Social entitlement of the FSWs:
We also work to provide Govt. identity to the HRG. And teach them how to get a Ration card, Pan Card, and Adhar card. We also work to implement the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojana for the HRGs who are PLHIV.
● Services & achievements: Through this project, we provide various services, achievements & targets as mentioned under (they are from April 2014 to Oct. 2014)
● CBO formation of the FSWs: Recently, we have helped the FSW community to form the CBO. So, they are now encouraged to do activities through this community.
