Every day, we come across heartbreaking situations — children lost at railway stations, forced to beg at traffic signals, or made to work for someone else’s gain. Many of these children are abandoned or exploited and need urgent care and protection. A small, timely action can make a big difference in saving their lives and restoring their childhood.

About Child Help Line

In India, many children still face serious problems like abuse, neglect, trafficking, and child labour. Often, people do not know where to turn for help or how to report such cases. This lack of awareness delays support and puts children at greater risk.

To respond to this need, SEDT started the Child Helpline in June 2012. The helpline provides immediate help to children in distress, takes action in cases of child abuse or neglect, and ensures that every child who reaches out receives care, protection, and counselling.

Our Aim

  • To support children in need of help and protection.
  • To reach out to children in distress, no matter where they are.
  • To protect children from sexual abuse, violence, exploitation, or neglect.

Our Approach

  • Work in partnership with the Government’s Childline initiative (1098).
  • Register and respond to complaints and enquiries related to children.
  • Provide immediate relief, counselling, and follow-up support to ensure long-term safety and rehabilitation.

Our Intervention

With support from Childline India Foundation under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, we operate a 24×7 toll-free helpline (1098) in Parbhani district. The service is managed by a dedicated team of 9 trained staff who respond to calls, visit children in need, provide counselling, and coordinate with police, hospitals, and child welfare committees.

Through this project, we have been able to rescue, protect, and rehabilitate hundreds of children, ensuring that no child suffers in silence and that every child gets the care and protection they deserve.
