We often see lost children at railway stations, children being exploited for someone’s interest and benefit, and children compelled to work and beg at traffic signals. Such scenarios are not new to people residing in cities and metros. These deserted children require the attention of society. Our simple and resolute action can save them from this misery.

About Child Help Line
In India, many a time, children fall victim to child abuse, child labor, and several other problems. The much-needed relief and support mechanism are not readily available to these children. This is mainly due to a lack of information among people about appropriate methods to help children in distress. A failure to notice such problems and provide immediate relief aggregates the situation, and thus children fall victim to social evils. In June 2012, SEDT started a Child Help Line that supports children in distress and addresses the issue of child abuse, and prevents any mishap. It ensures that every child that calls for support is attended to, and the necessary support and precaution is taken to care for and protect the child.

Our Aim
To support the children in need of any type of help.
●Addressing problems of children by overcoming geographical barriers and supporting children in distress
●Protecting children from sexual and or any types of abuse.

Our Approach
●Partner with the Government initiative – Child Help Line.
●Register the enquiries, problems, and complaints of children and provide immediate relief with further assistance to resolve their problems.

Our Intervention
Childline India Foundation, a nodal agency appointed by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, acts as an umbrella organization to support and monitor the services of child helplines across India. This also serves as a link between the ministry and various NGOs working in the field. With the support of this Nodal Agency- ChildLine India, Foundation, we are implementing this project in the Parbhani district. It is India’s first 24-hour, toll-free phone outreach service for children. The Help Line operates 24X7 at Parbhani. A dedicated team of 9 members is deployed to ensure continuous support. The complaints, inquiries, and problems are registered over telephone calls, and with all due diligence, it is ensured that we help the child and provide immediate relief and counseling if necessary. Further legal and technical assistance is catered to the victim, and all required follow up are maintained. The Police department is always with us in our services whenever we need their assistance. In the last two and half years, we have received over 300+ cases of missing children, child marriage, child labor, sexual abuse, etc.
