Delivering Excellence with a Heart of Care
Socio-Economic Development Trust (SEDT) is a registered NGO established in 1980 with a mission to bring positive change to the lives of people in rural Maharashtra, especially in the Parbhani district. Our journey began with a heartfelt dream — to provide a safe and loving home for children in need. This dream came true with Swapnabhoomi (Dreamland) at Kerwadi, where children found not just shelter, but a family and a future filled with hope. Over the years, SEDT has grown beyond child care to address broader challenges in rural development. Today, we work for the education, health, and empowerment of poor and marginalised communities, helping them lead lives of dignity and opportunity. At SEDT, we believe that real change begins with compassion — and that together, we can build a better tomorrow for every child, woman, and family.
Committed to work for poor and marginalized communities
With a mission to serve the weaker sections of the society we aim to create a community of empowered people who can manage their development process. Our organization symbolizes the primary care given to our environment with love, respect and equality towards others and our commitment to sustainable development and democracy.

Why our Intervention is Needed?
SEDT is a non-profit organization that helps empower poor and marginalized communities, primarily focusing on women and children. We work in education and healthcare, preserving resources and creating livelihood opportunities. For the past 30 years, we’ve been active in the Parbhani District, specifically in Gangakhed & Palam blocks, striving to enhance people’s lives. Many in our community live in poverty, with 40% falling below the poverty line. Sadly, most women under 30 lack basic literacy skills. They face social discrimination and economic marginalization, lacking access to vital resources like education and healthcare. We’re dedicated to tapping into the inherent strengths of our community to foster positive change. Our efforts include empowering women through education and rescuing, rehabilitating, and reintegrating children who were involved in child labour. We also run targeted programs for HIV prevention among migrant workers and commercial sex workers. Our flagship initiative, “Swapnabhoomi(Dream Land)” is a comprehensive Child Care Centre in Kerwadi. It provides a nurturing environment for destitute children, equipping them with the skills and confidence they need to thrive in the world.
