Socio-Economic Development Trust (SEDT) is a registered NGO established in 1980 to make a difference in people's lives in the rural areas of the Parbhani district in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra state. It all started with a dream to provide a safe and secure shelter for needy children. Swapnabhoomi (Dreamland) is the dream that came true when we created a home for the children at Kerwadi and lived with them. SEDT then enhanced its scope and built bridges for the region's socio-economic development. It is committed to working for poor and marginalized communities and striving to make a difference in their lives.
Shri Suryakant Kulkarni is the founder of Socio-Economic Development Trust (SEDT). A visionary social worker and educationist, he started SEDT in 1980 with a deep desire to bring positive change in the lives of rural and underprivileged communities in Parbhani district, Maharashtra. Born and raised in a small village, he understood the struggles of poverty, lack of education, and limited opportunities. With strong determination and compassion, he began his journey by providing care and shelter to orphaned and vulnerable children. Over time, his work expanded to include education, health, empowerment of women and adolescents, and community development. Under his leadership, SEDT has grown into a respected organization that continues to transform lives through its child care, health, education, and empowerment initiatives. Even today, Shri Suryakant Kulkarni remains deeply connected with the people and the mission of SEDT — inspiring others to serve with honesty, dedication, and love for humanity.
